In my Summer Sewing Camps I will teach your child the basic hand and sewing machine skills needed to become a more confident beginning seamstress. The classes will be paced to suit the ability level of the student in order to build her confidence in her abilities. Above all, we will do this in a safe and fun environment!Students who have previously attended my classes will learn new skills and have a chance to make more challenging projects.
Each Sewing Camp Session will be 6 hours long. Students will meet for 2 hours on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. If your group agrees to it then we could change that to 90 minute classes on M-Th. Classes will be held in my home in the Southpark area and we will use my sewing machines. You also have the option to bring your machine as long as you know how to use it.
The cost of each session is $65 plus $10 for supplies. By the time the students get to their 3rd set of classes they will understand how to read a pattern envelope so they will be given a supply list and will shop for their own fabric and notions before the start of class (Moms, I will send you a cheat sheet in advance of your shopping trip to help out if you need it).
Many of the summer students like to sign up for class with their friends, that way they can socialize while learning a new skill. Please email me at learntosewwithjan@gmail.com if you plan to sign up as a group so I can close your session to other students. Also, students who sign up as a group will be able to change their class time to either 11:00am, 12:00pm, 1:00pm or 2:00pm - whichever suits the group.
Sessions will be limited to 3 students to maximize instruction. Most of my students are at least 8 years old, however I do have some crafty 7 year olds who have no problem with the skills that I teach. Again, signing up as a group would really help if your child is young, that way I can slow the pace of the class down.
