The girls are now gaining more confidence in their sewing abilities so they are ready to try something that is a little more challenging but not overwhelming.
The ruffled skirt has a gathered waistband and a ruffle around the bottom. Making the ruffle is the hardest part of this skirt but with a few tricks of the trade and a little patience it can easily be done (right E.?)
The pattern that I use is for a skirt that hits below the knee. So far everyone has wanted one that is much shorter, so again, the girls get more practice adjusting the pattern to make a skirt that suits them. E.(9) also got creative and used the selvage along the bottom of the skirt to mimic the way denim jeans fray at the bottom. Great idea!
