More from the summer of 2011

L. F.    age 10

L. is a returning student who took her first class with me last summer.  She didn't seem to miss a beat and took back to the sewing machine like it was just yesterday!  Her sewing lines were nice and straight and her tote came together very beautifully.  I think she did a great job sewing this cute little tote bag.

K. M.   age 10

K. made a cute little ruffled skirt last summer but had already outgrown it, so she was back to sew another one.  She challenged herself this time by choosing jersey fabric but she really didn't have a problem with it.  I think the skirt turned out very well!  She is also modeling the pincushion that she made at the end of class and her tote from a few years ago.

This next group was a mother/daughter/niece team.  They said that they had never sewn before but I think they were just pulling a quick one on me, because their machine sewing was so good!
It took a lot of pinning, cutting, more pinning, and sewing to build these beautiful aprons but all of that hard work was so worth the final outcome!
p.s.  all 3 managed to finish the class safely - thanks to dad's warning to mom to not let them run the sewing machine needle through their fingers... dads, you gotta love 'em  :)

look mom, super straight lines!
My last group of budding seamstresses were some very talented young ladies.  C., who had taken a group of classes from me a year ago, brought her best friend with her to sewing camp.  Although K. hadn't sewn with me before she asked to skip the apron project for now and make the tote bag with her friend.  Not a problem, and she sure proved to me that it would not be a problem.  I just want you to look

at how straight the girls were able
to sew - I was really impressed!
And on top of that, their pattern
cutting was even beautiful! Here are the girls at the end of their 3 day camp modeling their beautiful quilted tote bags.

Registration for fall classes is starting now.  School aged students will sew after school and adult classes are offered between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
