Fall Learn to Sew classes are forming now

Learn to Sew classes are for anyone who is interested in sewing.  You or your child can be an absolute novice or perhaps have a bit of experience and would like to learn more.  Many of my adult students haven't sewn since high school Home Ec., and sign up for private refresher classes.

I will teach you/your child hand and sewing machine skills needed to become a more confident seamstress. The classes will be paced to suit the skill level of the student to build her confidence in her abilities. Above all, we will do this in a safe and fun environment!  Classes are taught in my home in the Southpark area, and are open to students aged 7 and up.

The beginning seamstress will learn how to:
  • use a pattern, lay out and cut fabric for a project
  • use a sewing machine
  • sew straight and curved stitches with a consistent seam allowance
  • attach buttons
  • make linings
  • hem
  • make casings
  • gather ruffles

Group Lessons:
- Monday to Friday after school, starting any time between 3:45 and 4:15
- Groups are limited to 3 students so each person will get the attention they deserve
- Many girls sign up for classes with their friends - a great fun way to learn a new skill
- Students will work at their own pace and may be in a group with students at different sewing levels or projects
- I will provide the fabric and notions for the apron and tote bag projects
- Students may sign up for one project at a time or sew for months on end - its up to you!
- I'm pretty flexible and try to work around school holidays and family plans.
Group classes meet for 1.5 hours once a week
Sign up with up to 2 friends and each person will receive a $20 discount off of the private rate =  $70 for 4 classes.

Private Lessons:
- for school aged students are offered after school and meet once per week
- adult classes are offered during school hours, days and times are flexible to meet both of our schedules
- I can teach you how to use your new sewing machine
Cost is $90 for four 1.5 hour lessons

Mother/Daughter Lessons:
- this is a great way for mom and daughter to spend some fun time together while learning a new skill!

- I can increase the difficulty level of mom's project if needed
Each person will get the $20 discount off of the private rate = $70 per person for four 1.5 hour lessons

  1. What a great blog - it was neat looking at all the projects the kids and moms made. Wish I lived closer - I know Greta would love to do this with me!
